| The air photo below was taken in May of 2005. The water filled pit is located in Foster Twp. and was once a stone quarry used to construct nearby Interstate-81. After abandonment, the pit filled with water and was later acquired by the Blythe Water Authority for a reserve water supply. Water from this pit can be released into a channel that flows into the Authority's Crystal Reservoir in Cass Township. Further below is a newspaper release covering Blythe's acquisition of a nearby water filled coal strip pit to also serve a reserve water supply. |
